SWK 100 - Introduction to Social Work and Social Welfare

3 credits
This course provides an introduction to the social work profession, its fields of practice, history, values, ethics, and promotion of social and economic justice to advance human rights. Social welfare institutions are reviewed through historical, cultural, political, and economic contexts for American and Canadian society. Special attention is given to service delivery in a rural context and with populations-at-risk.
