  • Topic One Option: Native American History- This competency explores the relationship between Native American groups and colonial powers and the US Government. It introduces students to the fact that there is not one Native American culture but multiple cultures and that each culture had its own unique relationship with the US Government. It then examines the impact of US Government policy on Native American cultures and their sovereignty as independent nations within a larger nation.  
  • Topic Two Option: Arab-Israeli Conflict- This competency investigates historical and current interaction and integration of people, economies, and governments of different nations and the effects on the environment, culture, politics, and economics. In this competency, you will examine the Arab-Israeli Conflict, which is a specialized field in non-Western history.
