ART 246 - Ceramics: Beginning Handbuilding

This course offers an introduction to the fundamental properties and behaviors of clay and glazes, with a focus on handbuilding techniques. Students will explore both sculptural and functional forms, emphasizing design quality, artistic vision, and craftsmanship. Through hands-on practice and critical discussions, the course examines historical and contemporary perspectives in ceramics, fostering an understanding of the medium’s cultural, environmental, and artistic significance.
