Program Mission:

The Associate of Arts in Human Services degree prepares students for work in a diverse range of helping professions with individuals, families, groups, and communities.

 

This program is delivered in our YourPace modality only. YourPace is UMPI’s innovative online, asynchronous, competency-based educational platform that allows students to progress through the program at their own speed, making it easier to balance their studies with professinal and personal commitments. 

 

Program Learning Outcomes:

HSV 1) Demonstrates knowledge competence through understanding of the historical and current development of the Human Services field and populations served.

HSV 2) Applies critical thinking skills, using credible sources to evaluate problems and construct knowledge.

HSV 3) Effectively applies theory and evidence-based practice to inform application of skills and techniques.

HSV 4) Adopts a cultural humility orientation towards professional behavior aligned with ethical responsibilities while advocating for the wellbeing of others.

HSV 5) Demonstrates effective oral, written, and technological communication.

HSV 6) Partners effectively with the individuals, family, and interdisciplinary team(s), to build relationships and foster open communications, mutual respect, and shared decision-making.

HSV 7) Demonstrates accountability as a professional, working ethically and professionally within the Human Services field. 

GEC Requirement for Human Services AA - 22 Credits


Total Credits Required for the Degree: 61


*Students must earn a “C” (2.0) or greater in all HSV courses required for the degree.
