EDU 367 - Numeracy for the Young Child

3 credits
This course introduces research-based perspectives of early numeracy acquisition during early childhood from birth to eight years. Students will explore theories of emergent numeracy and recommendations by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the Maine Early Learning Guideline standards, and the Common Core State Standards regarding numeracy learning. Students will learn developmentally appropriate numeracy instruction integrating mathematics content and methodology in the area of emergent numeracy. 4 hours of Field Experience required.
