►Alpha Phi Sigma (Criminal Justice National Honor Society)

Alpha Phi Sigma is a philanthropic honor society that recognizes outstanding criminal justice students.

Art Club (Studio 923)

The Art Club (Studio 923) promotes, educates, and pursues the arts within the UMPI and local community.

►Black Student Union (BSU)

The purpose of BSU is to utilize the voices of our growing population of Black Students on campus, to hold more cultural events, to educate others on African/ African American History, and to help build diversity. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join!

►Business Club

The Business Club provides students with the opportunity to learn more about local and national businesses by meeting and speaking with local business members, participating in community outreach projects, and expanding upon their learning experiences while attending UMPI.

Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU)

Campus Crusade for Christ is an interdenominational Christian student organization seeking to provide an environment that gives students spiritual support and motivation for Christian living.

Cinemaniacs Filmmaking Club

The purpose of this club is to write, edit, film, and produce short films and features to publish online and enter into competitions. This club would be great for anyone who is interested in gaining experience in the art and process of filmmaking.

Climbing Club

The purpose of this club is to allow an opportunity for anyone who has an interest in climbing. This club offers team-building opportunities for people and goes on many climbing trips throughout the year!

College Republicans

UMPI College Republicans seek to give a voice to college-aged Republicans and to provide opportunities to become active in the community.

►Commuter Club

The purpose is to build a community among commuter students (off-campus, in-person, online, hybrid, YourPace).

County Collections

County Collections works to improve medical facilities overseas and reduce medical waste through requesting, collecting, sorting, and transporting to nations from area medical facilities.

The Criminal Justice Club provides networking opportunities within the criminal justice field and enhances learning through speakers, workshops, and field trips.

Disc Sports Club

The Disc Sports Club educates, organizes, and promotes activities focused around disc golf and dodgeball.

►Education Club

The Education Club provides networking opportunities within the Education field and promotes the professional dispositions necessary for effective teaching and learning through various activities and experiences.

Food Security Council 

Everyone needs a helping hand from time to time and people should not be hungry because salaries are not livable. Community begins when individual efforts are not enough. Social/economic/ environmental justice can be achieved through collaboration.

►Geo-Ecology Club

The Geo-Ecology Club provides opportunities for students to enhance their knowledge and experiences in geology, ecology, and environmental sciences through workshops and field experiences.

►History Club

The purpose of this club is to engage students with different historical aspects and ideas, through discussions, projects and group-affiliated activities. History Club is a great club to be involved in if you have any interest in history.

Ice Hockey Club

The Ice Hockey Club provides opportunities for participation in the game of hockey and plays in the Presque Isle Gentlemen’s League.

►International Students Club

The International Students Club serves as a support group for international students and promotes learning and understanding through cultural exchange.

Mainely Girls

Mainely Girls works with local high school girls, promoting events and activities such as the Girls’ Point of View Book Club. They serve as role models and mentors for the local high school girls.

Math Club

The Math Club provides a time and place for math majors to convene, fraternize, and discuss mathematical topics and career opportunities.

►Native Voices

The purpose and goals of Native Voices is to bring awareness about native issues, educate and increase the native population at UMPI, organize and host native American events.

Organization of Psychology

Students (OOPS) OOPS provides an opportunity for students to explore their interests in the field of psychology and stay informed on current issues.

Outing Club

The Outing Club is committed to providing safe, challenging, and enjoyable outdoor activities designed to enhance the quality of life and broaden the learning experiences of the campus and surrounding community.

Page Turners

Page Turners reads, shares, and discusses various books in a group setting in which fellow readers can gather.

Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society

Phi Eta Sigma encourages high scholastic attainment among first-year students and provides academic services and programming for UMPI and the local community.

Physical Education Majors Club

The Physical Education Majors Club strives to develop professionalism in members and provides opportunities for students to enhance their knowledge by attending conferences and hosting speakers.

►Pre-Health Club

The Bio-Medical Club provides an opportunity for students to explore the bio-medical field by hosting speakers and participating in community service activities.

►Rainbow Society

The Rainbow Society serves the UMPI community by encouraging inclusive and safe spaces, increasing awareness, and supporting students.

Real Food Challenge

The Real Food Challenge works to involve students in working with the University to commit to 20% “real food” by 2020. The Real Food Challenge also works to promote sustainability on campus and within the community.

Student Activities Board (SAB)

SAB is a student-run organization that brainstorms, plans, and implements social, educational, and cultural activities for the campus community. Programs include dances, comedians, hypnotists, casino nights, off-campus trips, and more.

Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)

Student-athletes have a voice in the NCAA through advisory committees at the campus, conference, and national level. Each committee is made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience and offer input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes lives on campus.

Student Maine Education Association (SMEA)

SMEA provides future educators with opportunities to explore the field of education, network, and develop personal and professional competencies.

►Student Government Association (SGA)

The Student Government Association is the official governing body of the students at UMPI. It advocates for students’ rights and manages the student activity fund for student groups.

Sword Club

The mission of the Sword Club is to achieve fun, fitness, and discipline through sparring, coordinated team battles, and individual mentorship.

UMPI Floor Hockey Club

The UMPI Floor Hockey Club strives to create an organized way for the student body to socialize in an active way.

UMPI Red Cross Club

The UMPI Red Cross Club serves to help its members gain experience and leadership skills while working to address the needs of the community and promote the Red Cross.

University Players

The University Players is a campus drama organization that works to expose students, the campus, and the community to different types of performances and dramatic media.

The student newspaper serves to inform the campus community through bi-monthly publications.

Veterans Club

The Veterans Club strives to provide a place for local veterans to come together.

►WUPI Radio 92.1 FM

WUPI is a student run, volunteer radio station with an open format that broadcasts the latest music and talk radio to students and the local community. ★

Involvement Opportunities

Intramurals

The Intramurals program provides healthy recreational outlets for students. Fall leagues include softball, flag football, golf, tennis, and basketball. The spring offerings include bowling, basketball, floor hockey, indoor soccer, archery, and weight lifting. Other opportunities include swimming, ice skating, downhill skiing, and a run/walk program.

Student Activities Office (SAO)

The Student Activities Office is responsible for shaping UMPI students’ college experience. SAO provides a variety of engagement opportunities such as comedians, mentalists, bingo, dances, and more. SAO is located on the first floor of the Campus Center.

Recreational Sports

Recreational Sports provide students the opportunity to compete against non-varsity teams outside the university. Sports will be determined by student interest. Current sports include men’s and women’s indoor soccer. Recreation Sports provides free ice skating at The Forum and free lift tickets at Big Rock Ski Area.
