ART 340 - Podcasting: Storytelling and Audio Production

3 credits
MCS 340

We begin by studying the history of oral cultures and the significance of storytelling as means of archiving, sharing, and producing knowledge. Students will then learn to host and produce a radio program as well as develop promotional pieces with digital editing software. In addition, students develop techniques to interview, edit, and craft stories for multiple purposes. For the final project, students publish a podcast that demonstrates compelling audio storytelling, develops a unique narrative voice, and addresses the interest and concerns of a specific listening community.
