Mission and Outcomes
By completing the Health Administration Program and obtaining proficiency in the following program learning outcomes, graduates will be able to accurately assess and investigate community health challenges to increase the quality, availability, and the effectiveness of educational and community-based programs that are designed to prevent chronic disease, prevent injury and illness, and enhance quality of life.
- Graduates can interpret basic scientific concepts of human health and disease prevention through the studies of biology, epidemiology, statistics, biomedical sciences, environmental health sciences, and social and behavioral sciences.
- Graduates can interpret public and community health’s focus on disease prevention through research grounded in assessment, policy development, politics, assurance, as well as history, philosophy, and practices of community health.
- Graduates can adapt and apply community health strategies to fit individual, geographic, and cultural needs, thereby understanding that there is no one universally correct model or process.
- Graduates can practice cultural competence and appreciate the diverse, socioeconomic, sociocultural, behavioral, biological, environmental, philosophical, historical and political factors that affect human health and equity.
- Graduates can demonstrate an ability to deliver community health messages in written, oral, and media-based formats to both public and professional audiences, as well as to their peers.
- Graduates can effectively employ contemporary community health methods to collect and analyze community health assessment data.
- Graduates can communicate results and information to key stakeholders using quantitative and/or qualitative data reporting.
- Graduates can promote community health programs utilizing appropriate communications that target the health literacy challenges of the target population.
- Graduates can demonstrate a commitment to health, physical activity, and self-care by modeling and influencing healthy lifestyle practices within their immediate and local communities.
- Graduates can establish and sustain relationships within the program, with their peers, and in the professional community to promote strong community health connections that meet personal, organizational, and community goals.
- Graduates can understand the ethical and legal standards for confidentiality and program compliance within a professional setting.
- Graduates can engage in self-reflection of competence and professional development to expand personal growth and learning using a variety of community health topics and standards
