COS 101 - Introduction to Computer Science3 credits This course provides an elementary but substantive overview of computer science and is designed to help you develop critical (algorithmic) thinking skills to stimulate interest in computing and its impact on human culture. Topics include algorithms, structured programming, expression evaluation, information coding, computer operations, software, networking, the object-based paradigm, the relational model, the information systems development life cycle, and human and organizational factors in information systems. COS 101 is a foundation course for the COS degree and a prerequisite to other core courses.
