ART 313 - 19th Century Art History3 credits This course covers the major vanguard movements from Neo-Classicism to Post-Impressionism and Symbolism. Special interests include Barbizon landscape painting, early Realism, Courbet and Scientific Thought, illustrations of the plight of women in early Realism, the origins of Impressionism, Vincent van Gogh, and Paul Gauguin.
