PSY 374 - Vocational Aspects of Disability3 credits This course explores the many aspects of assisting clients with various disabilities as they transition from adolescence, or are rehabilitated as adults, to the adult world of work. Working with individuals who may have mental illness or with cognitive, physical, or developmental disabilities or substance abuse issues is explored. Emphasis is placed on assessing and working with their strengths, needs, interests, and aptitudes. The supports and barriers of society, government and private agencies, and individuals will be examined, with an overarching goal of helping clients to reach their full potential, while maintaining their personal dignity. Prerequisite(s): SOC 100 or PSY 100
