The University of Maine at Presque Isle is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education, which is one of six nationally recognized regional accrediting associations and is the official accrediting agency for schools and colleges in the six New England states. Institutional membership in the Association indicates that the University of Maine at Presque Isle has been carefully evaluated and found to meet standards agreed upon by qualified educators.
The University is also an institutional member of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.
In addition, several academic programs within the University are accredited by specific agencies: viz., all Teacher preparatory programs by the Maine Department of Education, the Medical Laboratory Technology Associate Degree program by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), the Social Work program by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), the Athletic Training Education program by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), and the Physical Therapist Assistant Program by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).★
